Obesity leads to heart problems, diabetes, knee/hip problems, fluid build up, high blood pressure, etc. It would not be a cosmetic surgery. It would be a future health problem with Tenncare paying for medication from start to death. Problem after problem. I already have sleep apnea-if I could have the $16,000 surgery than my chances would go down tremendously on the other future problem. Diabetes runs in my family history and has not skipped anyone and won’t but, my medical future will be so much better with the lap-band surgery. I have struggled with my weight for all my life and I think this could help alot of overweight people would benefit from the surgery. In the long run, the surgery would outway a lifetime of medicine and doctor bills. So my question is “Why doesn’t Tenncare pay for the lap-band surgery?”
First I want to say sorry I know what its like fighting with the insurance companies, Its heart breaking and stupid they would rather watch you die than see you well and happy I have done so much research on the lap band and know its the right thing, and your not having your guts torn apart like that other surgery. I am going to have the surgery on the 8th of Dec. Now you might call me crazy but as I said I have done my research but im going to Mexico to have it done its $8,000.00 and that includes everything hotel fills for the rest of your life but not the air fair (thank god I live in Arizona I can drive) It is safe!!! most people that come back to the US only have a few things to say!! It was great!! and Shame on the US hospitals and the insurance companies they were treated better there than any US hospital and they never added anymore to the cost for anything. If you would like to know more I would be glad to share or help point you in some of the research I have done. If you still have Tenncare you are one of the lucky ones out of thousands that were cut off and left without insurance. So just be glad you have the insurance still. There should be a number on the back of your Tenncare card that you can call regarding your question. Think of all the seriously ill patients who needed Tenncare and lost it. You can help your condition by diet and exercise and that would also help you keep from having a lifetime of medical bills.
