City Council Approves Police Helicopter Financing Plan New aircraft is expected to draw much less noise and should reduce citizen noise complaints, officials say. By STEPHANIE MOJICA

A $2.4 million loan to purchase a new Pasadena Police Department helicopter has been approved by City Council, and the noise level of the new aircraft is expected to be less disruptive to citizens.
Mayor Bill Bogaard noted in a telephone interview Tuesday that one of the many concerns city officials had about the existing fleet of five police helicopters was the noise level of the aircraft.
“This is an important event for the city of Pasadena,” Bogaard said. “This not only betters our helicopter surveillance program with an aircraft that is both highly modern and much quieter, it will improve the quality of life for citizens near any helicopter operations.”
